In the heart of the enchanting rolling meadows, resided a shepherd boy. His life was unadulterated, and unsophisticated. His only responsibility was essentially to tend to his herd of ewes.

Their low murmuring and the rustling of the wind across the lone tree on the hilltop were his main associates. Day in day, watching over his responsibilities instilled in him a sense of tranquil contentment.

The boy chuckled at the puzzle on their faces. This prank laughed for a few more days. However, one noon, a real wolf did charge at the grazing sheep. The shepherd boy raced for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one responded.

Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but could protect only few of his flock. Devastated, he went back to the town only to receive a scolding on honesty and the results of dishonesty.

His tale of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the significance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the perils of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is difficult to earn back. It's a story as appropriate today as it was in the past.
